2015 Saturday Family Concert Series


Celebrate music with your family this summer! Join the Discovery Learning Center for a free, kid-friendly, monthly concert. Donations will be accepted and will benefit our non-profit resource center for family learning located in the heart of the “Circles” neighborhood on the West Side of Santa Cruz.

Cost: free (donations of $5-$20 per family accepted)

The Banana Slug String Band



The Banana Slug String Band is a group of lovable musicians and educators from the coastal redwoods of Northern California. 

With vocals, guitars, mandolin, bass, harmonica, banjo and percussion, Slug songs range from rockin' boogies to gentle ballads; folk songs to reggae and rap. Music, theater, puppetry and audience participation create a fun-filled learning experience.

Oren and the Hiccups



Oren and the Hiccups have been a favorite of our children since they were toddlers. They have fun and engaging live concerts. This band knows how to get the audience moving and singing along!

Parents, this is kids' music that doesn't make you want to lose the cd! The lyrics are fun and catchy and the music is really good.

Singing Wood Marimba



If you have lived in Santa Cruz for any amount of time, you have probably heard marimba music being played along Pacific Avenue. Who can help but dance to this beautiful instrument played in the Zimbabewean Shona style. Come experience this joyful music with your whole family!
